Happy Hour for Hope
H3 is a once-a-month social gathering to inspire hope by recognizing kindness, courage, strength, and generosity at a time when the whole world is struggling.
Join us on the second Thursday every month at 6 p.m. eastern time for an uplifting hour to benefit people in need. Happy Hour for Hope supports organizations providing COVID-19 relief, the fight for social justice, climate change, and other initiatives aimed at helping people and making the world a better place.
Each happy hour features a special guest (leaders, inspirational speakers, writers, magicians, musicians…) and fun social interactions.
Attendees can make donations by buying "drinks." Of course, these aren't real drinks; your "drink" purchase is your donation. One hundred percent of the income goes directly to that Happy Hour's charity. Attendance is free, and your donation is tax-deductible.
Next H3: Chris Wahl, Upgrading our Inner Game: The Pursuit of Growth to Meet the World's Challenges
Thursday, May 20, 2021, 6:00 PM-7:00 PM Eastern Time
We humans have a real dilemma. We’ve created a world so complex that it is exceeding our ability to navigate it mentally. All of today’s headline issues, from climate change to racial division to worldwide military presence, will continue to get worse unless we learn to manage our minds, and particularly our ability to manage fear.
Mental development also shows up in the painful problems we see and experience in relationships, like what seems like the impossible task of managing different perspectives.
Knowledge from the field of adult/vertical development holds the most potent answers for the challenges we face, and on May 20th Chris Wahl will help us understand this field. Chris has immersed herself in the field for decades, and she is a deeply respected leader in leadership coaching. Among her many accomplishments, Chris is the founder of the prestigious Georgetown University Leadership Coaching Certificate program, where she teaches courses on adult development and team coaching. She also teaches adult development in Georgetown’s Health and Wellness Coaching Program and coaches in Notre Dame’s Executive MBA program.
Tax-deductible contributions to the Alexandria Seaport Foundation can be made below.
The Alexandria Seaport Foundation serves 16-22 year-olds who need a new start. We provide a safe haven where youth can learn career and life skills through one-on-one mentoring, personalized instruction, and project-based learning.
Through our Apprentice Program, we lead youth through a three-tier curriculum that teaches them the crafts of woodworking and boat construction; the soft skills of resilience, problem-solving, and communications; and the life skills of relationships, self-care, and empathy necessary for them to become resilient and productive adults and assets to their community.
Attendance is free, and registration is required. To register, click HERE
